Hi, I’m IONA.
Ambika was the name given to me by an elder in the foothills of the Nepali Himalayas. At the time, I did not know the meaning of the word but it soon became my prophecy…
Ambika is another name used for the Hindu goddesses, Durga and Parvati. She embodies love, divine strength, devotion, power, and creation. She connects all beings and is considered a primitive source of energy. Ambika is the strength of the feminine to protect, create new life, spiritually release, and heal. These aspects of Ambika’s divine energy are key to my philosophy as a massage therapist.
Ambika was my
prophacy.
ambika healing is my work.
My training
After becoming Ambika, my traveling became schooling, as I was drawn to studying the ancient touch therapies of the countries I was exploring. My exploration led me towards two practices, Ayurvedic medicine and Thai massage. I received my Ayurvedic Massage Certification at the Ayur Ayurvedic School and Hospital in Rishikesh, India and my first Thai Massage Certification at The Old Teaching Hospital in Chiang Mai, Thailand. I later returned to Thailand to receive my advanced Thai Massage training at the ITM Massage School in the northern style of Nuad Bo Rarn Thai Massage in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
After arriving in the USA, I decided to deepen my understanding of the body and broaden my modalities, so began studying massage at the North West Academy of the Healing Arts in West Seattle.
I am today a licensed Massage Therapist certified in Washington State, and am dedicated to drawing upon both my Eastern and Western training in the service of healing.
Current focus
This year my studies include intraoral training, to support realigning your palet and jaw, myofascial balancing, lymphatic drainage, and visceral mobilizations.
future dreams
Next year I hope to attend MABT training with the incredible Cynthia Price to deepen my understanding of the trauma stored in your body, and craniosacral therapy with the amazing Lauren Christman.
